For some, he was the "Turkish Mussolini," for others, "more Kemalist than Atatürk." Some saw him as the brainchild of the Republic, while others criticized him as the reflection of fascism on Turkey. In this video, we tell the story of Recep Peker, the "Third Man," who was instrumental in the founding of the Republican People's Party, served as the party's general secretary for many years, but was abruptly expelled from politics by Atatürk in 1936. In this journey, spanning from the military to politics, from ideology to revolutions, we will examine Peker's world of thought, his interpretation of Kemalism, and the conflicts of opinion he encountered.
