Bronowo. Karina's mare preparing for the 9th National Sokółka Horse Championships. This coming Sunday, July 12th, horse enthusiasts will turn their attention to Szepietowo, where the 9th National Sokółka Horse Championships will be held. Breeders from Podlasie will be among the participants. Final preparations are currently underway in Bronowo for the yearling mare Karinka, who will compete in the yearling filly category. Although there's a lot of work to do before the show, Agnieszka and Jarosław's yard is filled with humor. Every stage of preparation – from hoof trimming, through washing legs and tails, to grooming mane – takes place in an atmosphere of humor and family fun. "Before this show, it's a lot of work," says Jarosław, who doesn't hide the fact that he's going to Szepietowo with a specific goal in mind. "I'm going for first place. You always go for first place." If you went into the ring knowing you were going to lose, why would you go? During preparations, Karina patiently endures the various grooming procedures. The most attention is paid to her hooves, which must be impeccable before the show. "And now you'll have beautiful hooves and ride like a star. Not like a peasant – like a lady," Agnieszka jokes, addressing her protégé. But that's not all. Before leaving, you still need to wash your legs, tail, and take care of your mane. "If you want to be beautiful, you have to suffer a little," says the hostess with a smile while bathing the mare. Jarosław admits that preparing a horse for a show takes time and patience. "Dirty legs for a show? It's like a girl going to a guy with dirty legs," the breeder laughs. Karina stands out not only for her beauty but also for her exceptionally gentle nature. "When she was born, she was up within half an hour, and she's been so well-behaved ever since," the owner explains. The young mare's calmness is also evident during her daily grooming sessions. She easily allows her legs to be lifted, her hooves to be cleaned, and she's led. "She knows everything. She walks calmly, lets her legs be washed, and she's really very well-behaved," he adds. Although, as Jarosław admits with a wink, a bit of temperament would also be helpful. "When horses are so well-behaved, there's no adrenaline rush. I like them a little more aggressive," he notes. During the championships, Karina will be judged not only on her conformation, but also on her movement and presentation.
