What Does It Really Mean to Fear God? | The Awe of God Bible Study

When you hear the phrase "fear the Lord," what comes to mind? For many Christians, those words can be confusing. Does God want us to be afraid of Him? How can we fear the Lord while also knowing that He loves us, calls us His children, and invites us into a close relationship with Him? In this first lesson of The Awe of God Bible study series, we'll begin exploring what the Bible really means by holy fear. We'll look at common misconceptions, the holiness and character of God, why the fear of the Lord draws us closer instead of pushing us away, and practical ways we can grow in our relationship with Him. I'll also share part of my own testimony and how walking through infertility while far from God was completely different from walking through cancer while close to Him. Those experiences taught me that the safest place we can be is in God's presence.
