Pack Saddles and Riding Saddles for Mules and Donkeys
Mules are different than horses. The mule gets his bone structure from his daddy, the donkey, and that means that mules and donkeys both share unique needs when it comes to what they need in a saddle. On top of the bone structure differences, mules move differently than horses meaning the saddle will need to cater to the movement in addition to the bone structure. You cannot use a horse saddle on a mule or donkey. So, what are these differences? Why do they matter? Why is it that these differences mean having a different saddle? In this video, Steve Edwards from Queen Valley Mule Ranch answers all these questions and points out key locations on the mule / donkey that must be considered when placing a pack or riding saddle on the back.
