Reminder of Where My Gold Comes From - a SE Denver Geology Fieldtrip #goldpanning #colorado
https://goldputz.com goldputzco@gmail.com I find a nice exposed section of creek "bedrock", which has two geologic boundaries. The Denver formation (Paleocene ~62 mya) is at the bottom. There's an unconformity, with Broadway Colluvium (Pleistocene ~10-100 kya) overlaying the Denver Formation. I took one scoop out of a low spot on the bed boundary that was filled with ancient gravel and found it had a couple gold flakes - probably my best scoop of the day!
