The National Elections Board (JNE) officially proclaimed the results of the presidential runoff election and declared Keiko Fujimori the winner. Fujimori did not attend the official ceremony but remained at her campaign headquarters in San Isidro, where she was greeted by supporters of Fuerza Popular. Keiko Fujimori went from being the virtual winner to the president-elect following the official proclamation by the National Elections Board. The ceremony took place at the electoral body's headquarters with the presence of its president, Roberto Burneo, representatives from the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE), the Ombudsman's Office, Transparency International, and legal representatives of Fuerza Popular. Although her presence was expected at the official event, Fujimori did not go to the JNE headquarters and continued with meetings at the Fuerza Popular campaign headquarters. Outside the building, a group of supporters gathered to express their support after the proclamation. During the reading of the official results, the JNE reported that the votes cast corresponded to both the national territory and abroad. It was also specified that more than 92,000 tally sheets were counted, from polling stations both within Peru and abroad, with no missing or invalidated sheets. The electoral body confirmed that the comprehensive review of the decentralized tally sheets revealed no inconsistencies with respect to the 100% count. Following the proclamation, Keiko Fujimori posted a message on social media thanking everyone for their support during the electoral process. “With the electoral process concluded and the results proclaimed by the National Elections Board, I am deeply grateful for the trust that millions of Peruvians have placed in me,” she stated. She added that she is beginning a new chapter with “responsibility, humility, and a profound sense of duty.” The president of the National Elections Board, Roberto Burneo, confirmed that the proclamation is now official and cannot be appealed. “We have already officially proclaimed the winners of the second presidential election, in this case, the presidential ticket comprised of Ms. Keiko Fujimori and her vice-presidential candidates, Mr. Galarreta and Mr. Torres,” he declared. He also explained that, following this formal act, the transfer of power between the winning team and the outgoing administration can now begin. TRANSFER OF POWER AND DELIVERY OF CREDENTIALS Burneo reported that the official delivery of credentials to the presidential ticket will take place on July 15 at the National Theater. He also clarified that this formal ceremony does not halt the start of the transfer of power, as the directives stipulate that the respective teams have up to three days to take office after the proclamation. “This does not stop or hinder in any way the actions corresponding to the transfer of power, which can begin today,” he stated. During the press conference, Burneo also denied that there had been any fraud in the electoral process and affirmed that any incidents were addressed by the appropriate authorities. “We have consistently stated that there has been no fraud in this 2026 general election process,” he indicated.
