How to overcome your dog's fear of the HARNESS

In this video we will be sharing with you the steps we used to overcome Chase's fear of the harness. You may not realise from Chase's trick videos, but he is a very timid and nervous Collie with a number of fears - putting the harness over his head being one of them. Harnesses are a great tool to distribute your dogs weight evenly and safely if they pull on the lead, as well as useful for handling your dog in sports such as Flyball and Agility. It is important to remain patient and supportive when helping your dog overcome a fear, always go back a step if they are show signs of anxiety or stress. Remember: Always keeps session rewarding using positive reinforcement. Step by step guide below: Step 1: Reward contact with the harness on the floor (00:03:04) Step 2: Reward next to the harness (00:03:17) Step 3: Reward with your hand through the harness (00:03:54) Step 4: Slowly move your hand back through the harness (00:04:09) Step 5: Place harness over their head while rewarding (00:04:55) Step 6: Reward with high value treats while the harness is on (00:05:39) Step 7: Repeat! Repeat! Repeat! (00:05:48) Step 8: Ask for a stay before placing the harness over their head (00:06:09) Follow Chase on Instagram -   / chase_the_ace_collie   Music: www.bensound.com
