Perspective : INDIA-OMAN CEPA: UNLOCKING OPPORTUNITIES | 02 June, 2026

India and Oman have entered a new phase in their economic partnership with the operationalisation of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, or CEPA, from 1st June 2026. The landmark agreement is expected to deepen trade and investment ties, boost exports, create new employment opportunities and strengthen economic integration between the two countries. Signed in Muscat in December last year in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Sultan Haitham bin Tarik Al Said, the CEPA gives Indian exporters unprecedented access to the Omani market. Under the agreement, Oman will provide duty-free access to over 99 per cent of India's exports by value, benefiting key sectors such as agriculture, textiles, gems and jewellery, pharmaceuticals, engineering goods and automobiles. Significantly, India is only the second country after the United States to secure such a comprehensive trade pact with Oman.
