NOVENA AL ESPÍRITU SANTO DÍA #6

Saint Helena Guerra prepared this Novena in 1890 and called it "The New Cenacle." She then sent it to Pope Leo XIII in 1894. Both the Blessed Helena's devotion to the Holy Spirit and her constant communication with the Pope, requesting that he invite all Christians to devotion to the Spirit of God, led His Holiness to publish an apostolic letter called Provida Matris, on devotion to the Holy Spirit. He also published an encyclical called Divinum illud Munus, on the presence and admirable power of the Holy Spirit, in which he exhorted the entire Church with these words: "We therefore decree and command that throughout the Catholic world this year and always in the years to come, the novena shall precede the feast of Pentecost in all parish churches and also in other churches and oratories, at the discretion of the Ordinaries." (Cf. Divinum Illud Munus n°16) .
