🏆 39th All Japan Cycling Championships MTB Cross Country Olympics (XCO) The 39th All Japan Cycling Championships MTB Cross Country Olympics (XCO) was held on July 20th, 2026 (Monday, national holiday) at the Azumino City Mountain Bike Course in Nagano Prefecture. Astemo Utsunomiya Blitzen's Toki Sawada started the race aiming for his long-awaited third consecutive XCO victory. The race unfolded at a high pace, with Soejima (TRKWorks) and Kitabayashi (UNNO FACTORY RACING) battling for the lead. Although Sawada fell behind the leading group early on, he showed tenacious riding without giving up until the end. He steadily recovered his position, rising to third place alone by the final lap. He headed towards the finish line, aiming for a podium finish. However, after finishing the uphill section, he suffered a heartbreaking crash at the final corner, just a short distance from the finish line. Despite a determined restart, he was overtaken by two other riders and finished the race in a disappointing 5th place. He was just one step away from the podium.
