So, it was clear that I would continue from Pasto east along Highway 10. Saturday started with a gentle 15 km climb (almost a tradtion really 😅), with short 10-15 minute showers alternating with bright sunshine, and this went on for about an hour and a half. The clouds were right overhead – the altitude was between 2,600 and 3,237 meters above sea level. I saw a very beautiful effect thanks to this weather – a rainbow lying on the ground (5 photos), how amazing it looks in person – you can't describe how amazing it is! After that, I stopped at a specially made observation deck overlooking Laguna Cocha, a picturesque mountain lake! At the end of the descent, in the village of El Encano, I drank delicious coffee with cheese and tortillas and began the second and final climb of the day, now only 10 km long. Excellent road, and here I found myself in a cloud! It's really interesting - it's like there's no rain, but the water just hangs in the air tightly around you. And I had to ride in this cloud for a good half of the descent, extremely carefully, especially because it was already dark, wet, and the road was serpentine; you know what visibility is like in the clouds. I had another delicious coffee (this time with milk) with chorizo ​​sausage and potatoes in the village of Santiago, and the cafe owner later fried me an amazing piece of pork for free and flatly refused to take any money for it! I adore these people and their hospitality! And I noticed his bike right away in the corner - it turned out he lives in the neighboring village of Colon, 6 km from here, where we rode together, because he had already closed the cafe after me. We said goodbye there, and I still had 8 km to the village of Sibundoy, where I spent the night.
