Solwaster (Hoge Venen) 9 km wandelen in de vallei van de Statte

Deze schitterende wandelroute van ruim 9 km begint bij de kerk van Solwaster. Dit dorp maakt onderdeel uit van de gemeente Jalhay en ligt in de Belgische provincie Luik. Het dorpje ligt aan de rand van de uitgestrekte bosgebieden van de Hoge Venen. Aan de parochiekerk van Solwaster volgt u de blauwe rechthoeken in oostelijke richting. Bij de splitsing gaat u rechtdoor en volgt u de borden ‘La Statte’. Deze wandeling aan de rand van Hoge Venen wordt gekenmerkt door vele kleine beekjes. Het is schitterend om te zien hoe het water zich een weg baant over de rotsen. Ook komt u langs de Rocher de Bilisse, een miljoenen jaar oude rotswand. Een mooi punt om even uit te rusten is de waterval Cascade des Nutons. Maar ook de dolmen van Solwaster zijn meer dan de moeite waard. De rotsen hier stammen uit de laatste ijstijd! Maar wij wandelden in een periode dat er al weken geen regen was gevallen, en dan is de Statte eerder een kalm klein beekje, in tegenstelling tot de regentijd. Dan is de Statte een woeste bergbeek.
