87th Birthday Celebrations of HH DALAI LAMA in Dekyiling TIBETAN Settlement, DEHRADUN I Tibetan Food
Last month we had visited the Dekyiling Tibetan Settlement in Dehradun to witness the birth anniversary celebrations of His Holiness The 14th Dalai Lama, a very special day for the Tibetan community. It was a deeply enriching experience for us as we got to learn so much about Tibetan culture and the teachings of His Holiness Dalai Lama. In today's episode we bring you some moments of this grand celebration that included special prayers, cake cutting ceremony, snow lion dance, feast etc. The whole settlement was decked up with confetti, balloon and incense sticks. Residents of all age groups were dressed in their traditional attire and they looked beautiful. Everyone was gripped by the festive gaiety. School children too had gathered to take part in the celebrates. At one hall monks were chanting prayers and at the other cultural function was being held. After group prayer cake cutting ceremony took place. A community feast was organised for all the residents and visitors. We got to visit the kitchen and partake the soulful traditional meal. The crux of all the prayers, song and dance was world peace and harmony.
