A Japanese Office Worker's Quiet Weekend Hi everyone 🌸 This weekend, I received my brand new rice cooker! To celebrate its very first bowl of rice, I decided to take a short day trip to Kawagoe (known as "Little Edo") just to buy the perfect traditional Japanese pickles. I planned a quick shopping trip, but the delicious smells of roasted dango, matcha cream puffs, and local sweet potato dumplings completely distracted me. I surrendered to my appetite and enjoyed all the amazing Japanese street food along the way. 🍡🍵 After returning home, I spent a quiet evening in my small kitchen, taking my time to carefully simmer "Buri Daikon" (Yellowtail and Radish). The combination of freshly cooked, shiny white rice, a homemade simmered dish, and the Kawagoe pickles was the absolute ultimate weekend reward. Sometimes I let my appetite lead the way, but I also love putting effort into the meals that matter. I hope you enjoy this slow, imperfectly real weekend in Japan.
