SURFING THE MENTAWAI ISLANDS - LANCE'S RIGHT

Join us in the Mentawai Islands for a journey to HT's Resort to surf Lance's Right and Left. Starting with a 2 hour boat ride from Kandui to the Tuapeijat harbor, after some near sea sickness the crew arrives psyching and hungry. Getting on the road to drive to HT's, first stopping to get some mental local fried chicken, then back on the road for a long drive. Arriving at the resort, Varun is already psyching on the setup, with Lance's Right directly out front, a big pool, and everything else you could need. Checking the waves right away, it's a bit low tide and onshore, so the boys decide to get some coffee, chill and wait for the conditions to improve. After getting waxed up, everyone gets out there for a fun surf at Lance's Right. The next day is a bit stormy first thing, clearing quickly. While waiting for the weather, Varun talks about another surfer and how she surfed for about 6 hours, while he surfed for 2, had a massage, a nap, and then went back out to find her still out there. Getting ready to go surf, the crew decides to go to Lance's Left this time, and after a quick wave check, with no one else out, they're out there. After the surf, the road back is super muddy from the rain that morning, making it extra entertaining as everyone rides their motorbikes through it, tail sliding and getting muddy. Back at the resort, Rizal's psyching and gets the boys out there for one more fun surf at Lance's Right. At the airport with Varun, he tells about the crazy journey getting back, first getting canceled due to the weather, and then taking a 12hr boat ride back to Padang harbor.
