Dog owner warns of 'heartbreaking' consequences of over-breeding for 'designer traits'

French bulldogs, Persian cats, colourful reptiles and even bubble-eye goldfish may all be paying the price for the way humans have bred them. The RSPCA is calling on breeders to stop producing animals with traits that compromise their health. It's urging potential owners not to buy these breeds and instead consider healthier alternatives, with affected animals only being taken on through rescue where possible. The charity is also asking advertisers, media organisations and other industries to stop normalising and glamorising extreme features.
