BUKAE: Survivors Walking Towards Justice follows the testimonies of women who survived sexual violence during Timor-Leste’s long struggle for independence. They speak openly about what they endured and the roles women played in supporting the resistance. Their stories also reveal the experiences of children born of war and the lasting impact of the conflict on their lives, families and communities. Decades later, survivors still call for recognition, dignity and justice. This film is released as part of activities marking the International Day for the Right to the Truth concerning Gross Human Rights Violations and for the Dignity of Victims (24 March).
