Classic Mini Survival Guide: Faulty Fuel level Sender test & calibrate. Know how much fuel you have!
If you have a fuel gauge that give bad information about the level of fuel in your classic mini, check out this episode. I had a faulty fuel tank sender in my Classic Mini Clubman Estate and needed to replace it. Before installing the new parts I decided to check and measure the output of the old sender vs the new sender to see if the old unit was truly bad. I also discuss how to make adjustments to the sender to correct for errors between the sender and the dash gauge. Part number 21A248 for the van or Estate sender or 21A2163 for the Saloon version. 0:00 Intro 0:42 Symptoms of a bad fuel sender 2:09 Testing the fuel sender with a multi-meter 7:03 How the fuel sender works and what improvements can be made 9:54 Inspection of the fuel tank 10:49 Testing the new fuel sender to verify the dash readings before installing it into the tank 12:11 Rechecking the dash readings with the sender in the tank 13:04 Tank mounting hardware and filler neck rubber seal 13:35 Final gauge check with fuel in the tank Thanks Darren Thanks for watching Darrens Restorations!
