In one district in Papua, the government prepares 700 coffins for the poor in one year. Multiply that by 42 regencies and cities across Papua, that's nearly 30,000 deaths per year. In 30 years, that's nearly 1 million people. This isn't a prediction, it's arithmetic. Jose Ohei Kaka Jose, an academic and education activist from Sentani, came to the BKK with data that has never been widely discussed. He was the first to publicly state this figure: if this trend isn't halted, extreme depopulation of indigenous Papuans could occur before 2045. Not because of armed conflict.
