In this educational video, noted dermatologist & trichologist and one of the Best Hair Transplant Surgeons in Hyderabad, Dr John Watts answers select shortlisted questions of viewers related to hair growth, hair hall and hair transplant. He has performed over 2000+ hair transplant surgeries successfully. Kartik Rayudu asks: Sir, I am eager to know if one stops using Finasteride, will my existing hair instantly go bald? Please explain. In response to Kartik’s query, Dr John Watts told him that nothing happens in nature instantly including the baldness process, which happens gradually. “Once you stop using either Finasteride or Minoxidil, the regained hair will lose gradually. It may take one month or two months or three months,” explained Dr John Watts. While explaining how hair growth is induced using Finasteride, Dr John Watts said that the hair drug approved by US FDA manages to reverse the baldness caused under the influence of DHT. “If one uses Finasteride at the early stage of baldness, then one can see thick hair growth but if it is used at a late stage of baldness, one can manage to get a dark scalp with baby hair growth, ‘’ informed Dr John Watts. He clarified that once Finasteride is stopped, the DHT-influenced baldness would be back and one would gradually start losing whatever new hair had come up with it on the scalp. Hence, it is advisable not to stop using it. But, even if one stops using it due to some reason or the other, one need not worry as the best alternative option in such a scenario is to undergo a hair transplant procedure. “We can transplant non-DHT influenced hair grafts from the back of your scalp and transplant the same on your bald region on the scalp. This way you can confidently face the world again,” informed Dr John. Rohit asks: Sir, I am 27 years old. Earlier with the doctor's advice I was using 10% Minoxidil and Finasteride but to financial problems, I had to discontinue it. Gradually, baldness covered my entire crown, forehead and middle. Much later, I underwent a hair transplant procedure. Now, my doctor has again advised me to use 5% Minoxidil. What will happen if I stop using Minoxidil again? Will I lose my transplanted hair or the hair that I managed to grow using Minoxidil? Please explain. In response to Rohit’s query, Dr John Watts told him that once Minoxidil is stopped only baby hair that grew may eventually fall but nothing would happen to the transplanted hair. “In case there is a fall of transplanted hair, it may be coincidental or due to the normal hair cycle. Even if they fall, new hair will grow again in their place. There is no need to worry,” explained Dr John Watts. However, Dr John Watts advised Rohit to continue using Minoxidil 5% after the hair transplant procedure as suggested by his hair transplant surgeon as they would help preserve the existing hair. “In case after 5-6 months of Minoxidil 5% you do not find any result, you may shift to 10% Minoxidil after consulting with your doctor,” advised Dr John. #JohnWatts #BestHairTransplantSurgeon #BestHairClinic #HairTransplant #HairFall #Baldness #StopBaldness #Minoxidil #Finasteride #GeneticBaldness #Hairloss #Besthairtransplant #PostHairTransplant Trichos provides state-of-the-art treatment for various hair loss conditions and offers advanced hair transplant solutions.
