Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells (PEMFC) and Cyclic Voltammetry of Catalyst

This presentation begins with a general introduction to fuel cells, highlighting their advantages and disadvantages, and then addresses one such cell, the Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFC). The advantages, application areas, and operating mechanism of PEM fuel cells are explained, and their key components are briefly discussed. Next, the measurement and analysis technique for the electrochemical characterization of the catalyst, a PEM fuel cell component, is explained using cyclic voltammetry. Finally, the calculation of ECSA (Electrochemical Surface Area) is expalined.
