What if the archons’ elements actually matched the characters from that region?

There’s this odd little quirk about Genshin’s character balancing that has always felt out of place to me, and I’ve seen a ton of people mention it too. Each nation is explicitly associated with one of the elements. Mondstadt is the nation of Anemo, Liyue is the nation of Geo, Inazuma is Electro, and so on. This association touches almost everything: the culture of the people who live there, the themes and emotions that each archon quest is intended to explore, even the landscape itself and the emotions it’s designed to evoke. But one detail doesn’t match the nation’s element, and it always trips me up: which visions are given to the characters from that region. This happens almost every time. When we went to Fontaine, I couldn’t help but imagine all the unique and interesting hydro characters we were going to get. When Natlan came around, everyone was so excited to finally have a new pyro off-fielder who would free us from Xiangling. I couldn’t help it, even though Mondstadt and Liyue should have shown us that this was not the way it worked. But this got me wondering. What would each archon bring to the table if we kept their kit the same, but changed their element to match the most common in their nation? 00:00 Intro 01:04 Mondstadt characters 01:35 Venti • Cryo crowd control 02:17 Venti • Cryo support 03:09 Venti • Constellations, build, & team example 04:10 Venti • Verdict 04:37 Liyue characters 05:12 Zhongli • Pyro shielder 06:14 Zhongli • Constellations, build, & team example 07:10 Zhongli • Verdict 07:33 Inazuma characters 08:03 Raiden • Geo DPS 08:27 Raiden • Anemo DPS 09:02 Raiden • Constellations, build, & team example 09:57 Raiden • Verdict 10:20 Sumeru characters 10:46 Nahida • Electro support 11:28 Nahida • Constellations, build, & team example 12:33 Nahida • Verdict 12:48 Fontaine characters 13:13 Furina • Cryo support 14:07 Furina • Constellations, build, & team example 14:56 Furina • Verdict 15:10 Natlan 15:33 Conclusion Genshin Impact is an open-world action/exploration game, available on PC, PS4, PS5 and mobile devices (iOS & Android).
