JCOG0802 RCT of segmentectomy vs Lobectomy, an earthquake in thoracic surgery
This is a massive study that has shown as an RCT in over a thousand patients that segmentectomy has around a 5% survival advantage over lobectomy in tumours less than 2cm if frozen section proves that there are no nodal metastases. This is as good a survival advantage as chemotherapy for patients with N1 disease. What do you think ? isn't this the biggest thoracic surgery trial in a decade ?
