The National Police, through the Directorate of Police Investigations (DPI), has arrested two men suspected of murdering a father and son who worked as judicial facilitators and environmental defenders. The crime occurred on February 26, 2025, in Bosques de Zambrano, when the victims were intercepted while collecting videos and photographs as evidence of illegal deforestation to report it to the ICF (National Forestry Institute) and the Public Prosecutor's Office. According to authorities, the victims were executed and their bodies dismembered with a chainsaw before being dumped in a ravine.
