Sasai Tsurikomi Ashi (支釣込足) is a classic Ashi-waza (foot technique) in Judo that utilizes timing, balance disruption (kuzushi), and a sweeping foot action to off-balance and throw an opponent sideways or forward. Key Elements of Sasai Tsurikomi Ashi: Kuzushi (Breaking Balance) The throw is most effective when your opponent moves forward or steps diagonally. A pulling-lifting motion (Tsurikomi) with the grip on the sleeve and collar helps break their balance. You guide their weight forward onto the leg you want to attack. Tsukuri (Entry & Positioning) Slightly step off the opponent’s centerline to create an angle. Keep your balance and posture upright while leading their weight forward. Kake (Execution & Finish) Place your foot near their ankle or shin (not a big sweeping motion like Deashi Harai). Use a subtle guiding motion rather than forceful kicking or sweeping.
