What Type of Dribbler Are You? | Train More Effectively!
After years of coaching soccer as well as studying biomechanics and sports sciences, I found that there are two types of training when it comes to dribbling. Phase 1. Dribbling to maximize touches. Focusing more on foot that is touching the ball. Consistently using the correct part of the foot to make contact with the correct part of the ball. Phase 2. Dribbling to maximize game effectiveness. Focusing on organizing the entire body to be explosive, agile and deceptive. Precisely applying force in the optimal direction. Players need to be able to manipulate the ball with all parts of the foot on a consistent basis. Once that is mastered, players should shift their focus towards cleaning up actions that will make real differences in competition.
