Morning Melodies It's De- Lovely -Les Peterkin
One of my favourite Cole Porter hit songs is “it's De-lovely” It was originally performed by Ethel Merman and Bob Hope in the musical “Red Hot and Blue” And it was later used in the musical Anything Goes ..Then in the film version it was sung by Donald O'connor and Missy Gaynor. Cole Porters lyrics play with words that have the prefix De. like delightful, delicious, delectable, and he makes up this one - De-lovely. which incidentally is known as a neologism.
