⁴ᴷ⁶⁰ TRAIN TOUR: End of an Era for the Y-Tog | Denmark's Time Capsule Train

Take a ride along the windswept Atlantic coast of Denmark on one of the country’s last surviving Y-Tog (Y-Trains), sometimes referred to as the "Lynette". These classic railcars entered service in the 1960s-80s and once operated across much of rural Denmark. Today, the Lemvig Line in West Jutland is the final place where they still run in regular service. In this video, we travel from Lemvig toward Thyborøn on the Lemvig Line, operated by Midtjyske Jernbaner. This railway feels like a time capsule. The scenery is dramatic, the landscape is shaped by storms coming off the North Sea, and the trains themselves look and sound exactly as they did decades ago. The Lemvig Line is entering a new era with the arrival of Siemens battery trains, which use short sections of overhead wire to charge. These new trains have entered service, but with commissioning still underway, the classic Y-Trains continue to run for a little while longer. Their days are numbered, but for now, they coexist with state-of-the-art battery technology on one of Denmark's most scenic railways. This video documents a unique moment in Danish railway history.
