This 12-minute and 18-second video is a technical lecture explaining the depiction of rocks in sumi-e painting using three different techniques. The first rock in the center, painted using the molgol method, is painted darker at the most protruding parts, gradually fading towards the periphery. The downward strokes, particularly near the ground, are not only light but also white and brown, creating a contrast with the dark ink at the top. The second rock on the left uses shading (shadow expression) to create a realistic depiction. The third rock on the right, a brushstrokes often found in traditional sumi-e landscape paintings, is described step by step using scratching and dotting techniques.
