Twitter @juangangel The draft horse is a work horse used for its pulling power. Draft horses were used for plowing or pulling agricultural implements, and, as motive power, attached to carts and carriages. Draft horses were also used, in some cases, to move machinery attached to an appropriate mechanical device. Previous traditional uses refer to heavy draft animals. There are also light draft horses that allow higher travel speeds. A draft horse requires appropriate care and feeding depending on the work required.1 Maintenance costs, including shoeing, can be significant. Most draft horse breeds did not exist before the 18th century. Heavy draft breeds were defined by selection based on military needs (heavy artillery) and were incorporated into agricultural work. The development of draft horses accompanied the Industrial Revolution and the improvement of carriages and agricultural machinery (in the form of simple implements or Minecraft).
