Are Our Elders Innocent?

We have been taught to respect our elders rightfully so. We have been taught that in order to grow old, you have to know something. With age comes wisdom. Our elders are who birthed us. They paved the way for us. They taught us what we now know. With that being the case, why do we treat our ekders like their ears are too young to hear some of the language that we use or hear the content of our conversations. Why do we shy away from speaking about sex or relationships around our elders? Do we not think they can relate? Maybe it's respect.
