The rains recorded yesterday, Tuesday, in Mexico City broke a historic record; 34 million cubic meters of water fell. Today, the rainfall in the city continues unabated; Civil Protection activated an orange alert for the municipalities of Gustavo A. Madero and Iztapalapa. In the State of Mexico, streets and avenues collapsed in Toluca, Lerma, Ocoyoacac, and San Mateo Atenco. On the José López Portillo highway in Tultitlán, water levels reached high levels. In Puebla, rain accompanied by hail and strong gusts of wind caused a billboard to fall; its five-ton base was suspended by high-tension cables; five subdivisions were left without power. In Aguascalientes, businesses, streets, and avenues were flooded by the heavy rainfall. In the north of the country, Hurricane Lorena is expected to arrive, bringing heavy rains to Baja California Sur, Sonora, and Sinaloa.
