She learned to sew before she learned to read. Today her quilts are shown at exhibitions in Poland and abroad, and she is known as the Queen of Polish Patchwork. Anna Sławińska — a sanitary engineer who for 40 years kept quilting as "the second track" of her life, until it became her life entirely. In this first episode of the "Ordinary – Extraordinary" series, she talks about growing up in a dressmaker's home, about scrap quilts into which she sews the fates of strangers, about a nebula stitched with black thread on black velvet — and about fourteen thousand heart pillows sewn for women recovering from mastectomy.
