Sanur Scammer or just SIMPLY in NEED?

A casual place where you have time to reflect...on whether the taxi driver you just had was looking for a couple of extra bucks for his tips jar or it actually was his boys birthday. It's interesting how differently we think about money when we travel. Many visitors come to Bali feeling good when they can help someone who appears to be doing it tough. Buying a meal, leaving a generous tip, or helping out a local family can leave you with a genuine sense of satisfaction. Be it scam or genuine it's usually just a few rupiah. Yet sometimes those same travellers will spend ten minutes haggling over a souvenir, determined to save a dollar or two. Of course, bargaining is part of the culture in many markets, and there's nothing wrong with negotiating a fair price. But it does raise an interesting question: what feels better? Walking away knowing you saved a couple of dollars, or knowing those few dollars might make a bigger difference to the person 'asking for help' than it does to you?
