CBI Autumn Budget 2025 member webinar - 28 Nov 2025
This CBI webinar unpacks the key announcements from the Autumn Budget 2025, delivered by the Chancellor, and what they mean for businesses. We walk through what the CBI was calling for ahead of the Budget - from strategic tax reform to tougher decisions on manifesto commitments - and assess how far the Chancellor went in delivering those asks. The session covers the shifting fiscal landscape, the government’s “smorgasbord” approach to tax rises, and the evidence behind our analysis of the business tax burden. We also share initial feedback from members on measures such as pension salary-sacrifice changes, National Living Wage increases, and the introduction of Electric Vehicle Excise Duty. We then explore whether the Budget strengthens fiscal stability, how it affects investment and competitiveness, and whether it does anything to address the rising cost of doing business. The webinar concludes with where government policy has moved in the right direction - including on planning capacity, skills, and innovation support - and the gaps that remain. Finally, we look ahead to the political implications for the upcoming May elections and what businesses should expect next.
