As a result, fuel costs dropped significantly, as the 1.9 TDI turbodiesel's fuel consumption was unattainable by its indirect injection rivals from the 1990s. Then came the unit injectors - again, something only Volkswagen had. The 1.9 TDI engine reached new heights in power and torque, combining excellent dynamics and flexibility with incredibly low fuel consumption. Today, Poland is home to numerous Volkswagens, Audis, Skodas, and Seats with 1.9 TDI engines in various versions. Due to their high mileage, the technical condition of these engines depends primarily on whether the owner regularly invests in replacing or reconditioning consumable parts. The exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve, turbocharger, and dual-mass flywheel are consumables typical not only of the 1.9 TDI engine, but also of any modern turbodiesel engine, such as the 2.0 TDI, 1.6 TDI from the VAG group, 1.6 HDI and 2.0 HDI from the PSA group, or engines from the TDCI family manufactured by Ford.
