🔗 https://orcd.co/20-greatest Clive Bruce is a trailblazing South African country singer and stepson of music legend Virginia Lee. He began his career in the 1960s as a backing vocalist and bass guitarist, later becoming a multi-instrumentalist with mastery of keyboards, drums, guitar, and more. Bruce’s breakthrough came in 1971 when his single Sally Sunshine topped LM Radio’s hit parade and climbed to No. 11 on the SA Top-20 chart. A decade later, his 1981 hit If You’ve Got Nothing On Tonight charted at No. 16, cementing his status as a local country icon. His 1996 album One Last Kiss achieved gold status, marking a career milestone. Beyond music, Bruce became a beloved voice in South African pop culture as the original "Sarel Seemonster" on the iconic children’s show Wielie Walie in the 1980s. In 1985, he was tapped to host the hit TV4 series Sing Country, filmed at Pretoria’s Zillertal restaurant and broadcast for five years. The late-night show earned him the nickname “Midnight Cowboy.” He also hosted the fan-favourite music video request show Rewind from 1993 to 1996. In 2002, during the Aardklop Arts Festival in Potchefstroom, Bruce was honoured with a platinum award from Select Records for selling over 75,000 copies across three standout albums: One Last Kiss, Just One More Dans, and My God Loves Me. ℗ © 2026 Next Music #clivebruce #greengrassofhome #countryrock #countrymusic #countrylegends #classiccountry
