Regardless of color, brand, or size, a pencil without a hand is useless; it only writes because it has a hand holding it. So are we, dependent on the hand that moves the universe: Without God, we are capable of nothing! John 15:5b 2. Just as a pencil needs to be sharpened to become better, The processes we face sharpen us and enable us to be in the hands of the supreme writer, writing stories. James 1:2 3. There are times when we need to correct the wrong paths we take when we decide to do everything ourselves, when we try to be independent. Just as a pencil has an eraser that erases wrong strokes, conditioning it to start over, we have the blood of Christ that erases our transgressions and purifies us from all sin. Psalms 32:1 4- The most valuable thing about a pencil is not the wood itself, but what's inside. What's inside is what truly builds it. Thus, we are clay vessels, but carrying a great treasure, the Holy Spirit. 2 Corinthians 4:7 5- The pencil leaves traces, marks on surfaces. What have you drawn? What will your legacy be? Proverbs 22:1 6- As the pencil is used, it wears out until it's gone. This is the time of our lives. We don't know how long it will last, we only know that it will end. Just as the pencil wears out as it is used, our life is fading away as we live. We need to make good use of the time we've been given while we still have it. Ephesians 5:16 We cannot waste the opportunity God gives us to not only live but to allow Him to be the author of our story, because a lost opportunity will never return.
