🏗️ Tekla Structures | Beam & Column Design, Load Application, Interaction Diagrams & Reinforcement

In this session we go through the full structural design workflow in Tekla Structures — from applying loads correctly to analysing interaction diagrams, adjusting reinforcement, and generating professional structural reports. This is a practical, hands-on tutorial built for engineering students and professionals working with Eurocode standards. 📚 WHAT YOU'LL LEARN: ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 📦 LOAD CLASSIFICATION & APPLICATION ✅ Difference between imposed loads, dead loads & serviceability loads ✅ Roof imposed load: 0.75 kN/m² | First floor imposed load: 2 kN/m² ✅ Applying Area Load, Point Load & Full UDL (wall loading on beams) ✅ Correct placement of wall dead loads along beam lines only ✅ Load combinations — Operating (fully occupied), Final (commissioning) & Erection (construction) scenarios ⚙️ DESIGN SETTINGS & CONFIGURATION ✅ Configuring Eurocode standards in Tekla Structures ✅ Beam bar sizes: minimum 12mm, maximum 20mm ✅ Column maximum bar size: 20mm ✅ Detailing settings for links and slab reinforcement ✅ Running Design All Static to verify preliminary member sizing 📊 COLUMN INTERACTIVE DESIGN & ANALYSIS ✅ Using the Interactive Design feature for column evaluation ✅ Reading M-N interaction diagrams — resisting moment (Mr) vs applied moment (M) ✅ Understanding utilization ratios: bottom column 0.766 | middle 0.496 | top column ✅ What a ratio of 1.0 means — member capacity fully reached (failure point) ✅ Increasing bar sizes from 16mm to 20mm to bring ratios within safe limits ✅ Avoiding honeycombing — spacing and bar size best practices ✅ Shear force distribution: highest at base, decreasing at higher floors ✅ Buckling height for fixed-fixed columns: H(not) = 0.75 × total height 📐 BEAM INTERACTIVE DESIGN & REINFORCEMENT ✅ Identifying critical beam spans using utilization ratios ✅ Understanding longitudinal bar labels: 6L, 6R (left/right) and bottom bars labelled 8 ✅ Adjusting bar sizes (12mm → 16mm → 20mm) and observing utilization impacts ✅ Support reinforcement: 1L and 1R labels for a 4.5m span | Middle span label: 3 ✅ When to use 16mm vs 20mm bars at critical supports ✅ Checking provided reinforcement area vs required (e.g. 2660 for span 1, 402 for span 2) ✅ Troubleshooting beam design failures by testing bar size configurations 🔗 AutoCAD Startup – New Drawing vs Open File →    • COMPLETE AutoCAD Masterclass — 30 Essentia...   🔗 AutoCAD Full Training – Modify Tools, Layers & YQ Plugin → [YOUR VIDEO LINK] 🔗 Beam Detailing in AutoCAD → [YOUR VIDEO LINK] 🔗 Column Sizing & Structural Modeling → [YOUR VIDEO LINK] 🔗 Tekla Beam & Column Design (Previous Session) →    • Structural Design in Tekla | UDL, Point Lo...   👍 LIKE this video if it helped you 🔔 SUBSCRIBE for weekly Tekla Structures & structural engineering tutorials 💬 COMMENT your questions — we reply to every one! 📤 SHARE with a fellow engineering student or colleague
