Reality vs. Artificiality The original text warns that human relationships and spiritual life in our time are filled with artificiality. End-time indications: People are loving artificial love, laughter, and affection. God's Desire: God wants believers to live in Reality, not in Illusions. Pentecost: Background and Significance Pentecost is not just an organization or denomination, it is a historical and spiritual event. Topic Description Meaning 'Pentecost' means the 50th day in Greek. Old Testament Background The 'Feast of Weeks' came 7 weeks (49 days) after Passover. People would offer new fruits in gratitude. New Testament Significance The Holy Spirit came upon the church on the 50th day after Jesus' death. The Purpose of the Holy Spirit The Holy Spirit has a plan for each person. This can be seen in Acts 1:12-26. Divine Will in Selection: When Matthias and Joseph were proposed to replace Judas Iscariot, God chose Matthias. No Comparisons: Joseph was not chosen, but he was not a loser. It is important not to be jealous of Matthias' position, but to be faithful to the responsibility God has assigned to him. Different Gifts: One may have the gift of prayer, another may have the gift of speaking.
