His first day had begun. The forest was in a turmoil. There was an awful commotion, with everyone rushing around to get to work, each feeling so important and invaluable. It was chaos. Everyone stumbling about and yelling and bumping into each other. Bialoipokku hopped from the edge of his nest and started to walk among the others and no one noticed there was another uncertain newcomer about. He walked here and there, trying to be as confident and purposed as the others, walking, greeting passers-by, walking and walking. Except he had no idea really how a proper magpie should behave. Had he some special place to fill, or should he just sleep and forget it all, or should he just try to be himself. But he soon sensed in the others a strange sulkiness – they were very offhand with him. Things are not going well he thought. Bialoipokku was depressed."
