Hamburg: S-Bahnen und Güterzüge auf den Oberhafenbrücken

About 200 meters north of the river Elbe bridges, the suburban rail line to Harburg and the freight bypass line cross the Oberhafen canal. Many freight trains pass this point on their way from either South Germany or Maschen shunting yard to destinations in North Germany or Scandinavia. The level above is used by the suburban trains between Hamburg Central Station and Hamburg-Harburg. The location is close to the new suburban rail station of Elbbrücken. By end of November, 2019, final work was in progress to prepare the station for opening. Therefore suburban trains had to pass at reduced speed.
