Recollections of the 1900 Galveston Hurricane | TAMI PRESENTS
The oldest known films of Texas document the wreckage of the 1900 Galveston Hurricane. Here, combined with interviews with survivors Caroline Schaper Harris and King Vidor (Academy Award-nominated director), they tell the story of the deadliest natural disaster and the worst hurricane in U.S. history. Produced by the Texas Archive of the Moving Image, this video features videos from the archive along with additional archival imagery. The video features interviews contributed by the Galveston and Texas History Center - Rosenberg Library as well as footage from the Internet Archive and Library of Congress.
