Firefighters battle major blaze in auto wreckers yard at Fairfield East NSW

Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) crews have stopped a fire in a Fairfield East car wreckers yard from spreading to a neighbouring business storing large Lithium-ion batteries. FRNSW received numerous Triple Zero (000) calls about the blaze in Fairfield Street just after 3am. The first crews on scene called for additional resources as flames destroyed a two level office, which collapsed, as well as an adjoining workshop, a number of wrecked vehicles and car parts.
