The ‘American Dirt’ Controversy
The novel American Dirt recently got the coveted Oprah seal of approval, but such acclaim was soon followed by heavy criticism from Latino reviewers and readers who said the book relied heavily on stereotypes and overwrought tropes about the immigrant experience.
