Take Charge Of Security In Your States, Gov Okpebholo Urges Colleagues

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has called on the nation's 36 state governors to take greater responsibility for tackling insecurity in their respective states, saying security is a shared responsibility across all levels of government. The governor made the call during an APC stakeholders' interactive session held at Okaijesan Town Hall in Irrua, Esan Central Local Government Area. Governor Okpebholo said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu cannot be physically present in every state at the same time, stressing that governors must take ownership of security within their domains to better protect lives and property. He maintained that if every governor effectively secures their state, the country's security challenges would be significantly reduced. The governor also criticised those he described as unfairly blaming President Tinubu alone for the nation's security situation, arguing that such critics fail to acknowledge the constitutional responsibilities of state governments.
