AIIMS degree without experience: In Madurai, 1st MBBS batch nears graduation out of temporary campus

The much-awaited AIIMS Madurai, whose foundation was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in January 2019 at Thoppur, continues to face major delays. While construction finally picked up pace in 2024, the permanent campus is still far from ready, with partial completion expected only by August 2026 and full operations possibly in late 2027 or early 2028.
