Vadattupara waterfalls in Kothamangalam is recently being popular as an eco-tourist weekend destination in Kerala. Fascinated by the alluring falls, the travellers have bestowed a nickname to these rapids as ‘Sundari waterfalls’. The rippling water flowing through the gentle slopes from the top of the waterfall offers an enchanting experience for the visitors. The comparatively low height of the waterfalls at many spots and the absence of strong currents make it a safe spot to spend holidays, especially with children. The stream to this waterfall originates from a canal in Arattuchira. Soon it emerges as Vadattupara falls and flows through the Karimpani forests here to join the Periyar river. Though the boulders here are smooth, the surfaces are not slippery as the other waterfalls. The waterfall and the adjacent forest region spread to over 100 hectares.
