Libya was hit by violent flooding on Monday, September 11: Cyclone Daniel struck the northeastern coast, particularly Derna, one of the cities hardest hit by the storm. Two dams failed, and the floods devastated the country. Meanwhile, the damage caused by Cyclone Daniel's passage in Libya is still being assessed, with the death toll currently standing at at least 3,000 and 7,000 missing. The rainfall, linked to Cyclone Daniel, caused two dams along the Wadi Derna River to fail. The city was therefore flooded: initial estimates speak of thousands of deaths and injuries, although official tolls are not yet available.
