Cotswold Way Walk – Ep11: Cam Peak Hill to Wotton-Under-Edge

The Cotswold Way – a truly beautiful National Trail stretching just over 100 miles. It begins in the charming market town of Chipping Campden, meanders south through the heart of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and finishes in the historic City of Bath. Join me on this series every Sunday as I set out to walk and film every single step of this stunning trail, sharing the entire journey with you from start to finish. Part 11: Cam Peak to Wotton-Under-Edge – 6.5 miles (10.6 km) Starting at Cam Peak, just before the town of Dursley, we begin this rainy section of the Cotswold Way, filmed entirely in the wet weather. No beautiful views today. We drop down into Dursley before and then a steep climb up Stinchcombe Hill, offering misty views of the golf club. After crossing the summit, we descend through woodlands into farmland, making our way towards the village of North Nibley. From here, we face another steep ascent up to the Tyndale Monument, we venture up monument which has a predictably minimal view in the thick fog. The trail then levels out as we cross grassland and pass through more woodlands, eventually leading us onto Wotton Hill. Along the way, we pass a unique walled enclosure surrounding trees planted in 1815 to commemorate the Battle of Waterloo. Finally, we descend into the town of Wotton-Under-Edge, marking the end of this challenging, wet, yet scenic, section. This part of the journey was filled with steep climbs, serene woodland paths, and rich history, all set against the backdrop of the relentless rain. This leg of the journey includes 835 feet (260 metres) of ascent and 836 feet (255 metres) of descent, offering a mix of rewarding climbs and tranquil countryside.
